Prohibited and restricted goods are different categories

Thai Customs distinguishes prohibited goods from restricted goods. Restricted goods may require permission from the responsible authority; a general packing list cannot establish that permission.

Use the declaration channel when goods require it

Ordinary finished modern medicines have a current personal-use boundary

Thai FDA's current FAQ says an ordinary finished modern medicine may be carried for personal use up to a 30-day supply, in its original container and with the doctor's prescription. This does not cover every formulation, narcotic, psychotropic or herbal product.

Controlled-drug rules depend on the active ingredient

Thai FDA guidance distinguishes narcotic drugs from psychotropic substances and provides a traveler permit route and active-ingredient checker. Check the generic ingredient; a brand name or foreign prescription does not establish Thai classification or permission.

Current FDA guidance blocks specified cannabis and hemp products

Thai FDA's current personal-use guidance states that cannabis/hemp-based foods and cosmetics, and herbal products containing cannabis or hemp, must not be imported by travelers. Recheck this especially changeable category before every trip.
